Introducing Beyond Format
Discover how our collaborative initiative is uniting Nordic and Baltic investigative documentary filmmakers and journalists.
With a focus on blending creative and journalistic approaches, Beyond Format supports groundbreaking projects and provides tailored professional support through workshops at major regional festivals.

What we are looking for?
We are looking for bold, socially urgent documentary projects that aim to speak to a wider public in new and engaging ways.
From rising geopolitical tensions in our region to mental health and the polarisation of society, we are seeking projects that address the most pressing issues of our time — but not through traditional formats. What we’re most interested in is a fresh and inventive approach that rethinks how important stories are told and how they connect with audiences.
We want projects that are not only relevant, but resonant — stories that can cut through the noise and help bring us together as a community.
Selected projects must be open to close collaboration with expert mentors in order to develop a creative film language that is thoughtfully crafted for their intended audience. This is a space to experiment, challenge conventions, and explore the power of hybrid storytelling between creative documentary and journalism.
To fully benefit from the funding and workshop opportunities offered through the initiative, projects should already be in development at the time of application.
